D-Licious - IHOP

I knew you were hungry for more D...

Welcome to D-Licious!

This week's Dish:  Breakfast at IHOP!

In my humble opinion, the International House of Pancakes would be far more exciting if it were a building actually made from those mouth-watering, short stacks.  You could have faucets that pour syrup!  Short-stack seats!  Lickable wall paper!  The snozberries would taste like snozberries!  Oh that's right... apparently we can't do that or else four out of five rich kids will mysteriously vanish and then the CEO will hand over the reins to a twelve year old leaving him and his emaciated family to deal with the imminent lawsuits and answer to the shareholders.  "Hey Charlie!  New owner of the business!  How do you explain the tramatizing ordeal suffered by those poor rich families?!"  Think of the scandal it will cause with Germany if Augustus Gloop doesn't come out of that food coma.  I'm surprised the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't a legal thriller written by John Grisham.  Wait... where were we.

Ah, that's right.  In my humble opinion, or MyHOP (My Humble OPinion), that'd be fun, but alas it is just a regular old blue and white building.  Still, if you're in the mood to go out to breakfast and maybe not do some serious damage in the weight department, you can make like us and check out the "Simple-&-Fit" Meals.

There's over 30 meals that are under 600 calories that run from breakfast-to-dinner and from kids-to-kids-at-heart.  After checking the clock 3 times, I finally decided that ten a.m. might be a bit too early for my usual bacon-cheeseburger and instead went with the "SIMPLE & FIT Spinach, Mushroom & Tomato Omelette" - With fresh spinach, mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese. Topped with diced tomatoes.(330 Calories).  Om... Let me just say it was pretty darn good.  It also comes with a small side of fruit which put together was exactly how much I needed to get full.

EVD also went with one of the healthy options and filled up on the "SIMPLE & FIT Whole Wheat French Toast Combo" Two slices of whole wheat French toast topped with fresh slices of banana. Served with scrambled egg substitute and two strips of turkey bacon. (490 Calories)  "It felt like I was indulging without ruining my diet!" she exclaimed wildly, waving a fork in the air and setting fire to the booth next to us... or something to that effect.

So there you have it!  If you're looking for some healthy... or healthier places to grab some grub, the International House of Pancakes might just have something for you!  Still, though, it does beg the question... was there an original House of Pancakes or did they simultaneously open one in the U.S. and Canada at exactly the same time...?  Or maybe it didn't begin in the U.S. at all.  Last time I checked it was call Liberty Toast!  U-S-A!  U-S-A!

Weekly Pun:
 IHOPe you're satisfied!
